*About Content Types

Your site has personalized content types. Each content type has different parameters depending on its function within the webpage. It is important to understand the differences between content types as you create new content, otherwise content may not end up in its correct place.

Antibody: This content type places content in the Antibody Directory of the Virutal Lab section.

Blog Entry: To create a new blog entry in the Read Our Blog section, create this type of content.

External Resource: This content type places links and information into the Partners and Associations section of the site.

Forum Topic: Topics for the Woodruff Lab Forums are created via the Forums page by logged in users. This content type just categorizes those posts. You can ignore this type when creating content.

Lab Product: This content type creates new products which are placed in the Request Order section of the Virutal Lab.

Media Item: This content type places documents, such as logos and PowerPoint templates, in the Media Gallery section of the Virtual Lab.

News Item: This content type places information in the In The News section of the site.

Non-Catalog Product: You can ignore this content type.

Page: Pages are used to display static content. While you won't need to create any new pages, it's important to recognize this content type. When you select Content from the Content Management menu and see the full list of your site's content, you will notice some content is categorized as a Page. You are able to edit these pieces of content.

Panel: Panels provide dynamic ways to display your content. You can ignore this content type.

Person: This content type places information in the People and Alumni sections listed under The Woodruff Lab.

To place a person in either section, you must specify their status. When creating or editing a profile, select the appropriate option as pictured below:

Protocol Document: This content type places documents and links in the Protocol and Documents section of the Virutal Lab.

Public File: Public Files are uploaded documents that are avaiable for public download.

Publications: As its name suggests, this content type places content in the Publications section of the website.

Webform: You can ignore this content type.

*Requesting an Order

  1. When logged in, select Request Order from the left-hand side menu.
  2. If you already know the Name, Description, and/or Vendor of the product you need (If not skip to Step 3), type that information in the Product Name/Description and/or Vendor text fields. Hit Apply.

  3. If you do not have a specific product in mind and want to browse the available items, navigate through the list of products using the numbers and next, previous, first and last links listed below the items.
  4. You may check the items in your cart at any time by looking for the light gray box labeled Shopping Cart on the lower left-hand side of the screen.

  5. When you are ready to check out, either select the Checkout link from the Shopping Cart box located on the lower left-hand side of the screen, OR from the Shopping Cart page, select the Checkout button.

*Moderating an Order's Status

  1. On the top navigation bar, hover over Store administration. Select Orders then View Orders.
  2. To view an order, select the magnifying glass over paper icon to the very left of the Actions column.

*About the Forum

The forum is a way from lab members to communiate with each other in an online space. Any user with log-in information can create and respond to topics in the forum.

Creating a New Topic: Once you access the Forums page via the Woodruff Lab Forums link, select the forum you want to post on.

Familiarize yourself with the keys located at the bottom of the page. These icons will indicate the status of the forum topics.

To create a new topic, select the New Topic button located on the upper right hand corner of the Forums page. Fill out the required information and select Save.

Responding to an existing forum post: To post a reply to the topic itself, select the Post Reply button located on the upper left hand corner of the forum thread page.
To reply to a post on a thread: select the Reply button located beneath the post.
